Woofs first pig, under ten weeks old.

Woof is not quite ten weeks old and got to experience his first wild pig.
At this time of the year our walnuts start to fall off the trees so I have a tool that picks up the walnuts. The orchard is down the hill below the house and whenever I take the dogs away from the house they need to be wearing tracking collars as there is always a chance that a pig might make the mistake of thinking it can hide from the dogs.
With the dogs in toe I picked up Woof and held him on the front of the four wheeler. At first he squirmed but once we got away from the house the track steepings so I turn the bike off to glide. With the motor off Woof settled down and started looking around, so it should not take long to get him used to the bike.
Down in the orchard block I had Woof close by playing while I was picking up walnuts when Bro broke the silence a couple of hundred meters away with a nice bail. The other three dogs were down with me untill they heard the bark. From where I was standing I had a grandstand view, I could see the bush that bro was bailing in and I could see on the GPS as the dogs closed in. This is where I had to take control of what was going on. If I left the dogs to there own thinking they my gab the pig which would mean I would have to bush bash my way up to them. Tig is a big strong dog that is more than happy to hold a pig for me so as soon as I could see Tig at the action, when I heard the dogs put to much pressure and tried to grab the pig I gave Tig a tone on his collar. Tig is always good at responding and returned to me.
The bailing and breaking continued around the face then down into the creek as I knew the dogs would. I had Woof and Tig beside me as I watched a nice young black and white boar bailed right beside the creek.  I had to push through head hight braken to get to this pig which Tig held as I arrived so I quickly dispatched the boar then I noticed young Woof coming down through the braken and he did get stuck in the creek so had to help him up my side. Woof sniffed around the boar and seemed very happy.
To get this boar back to the track it appeared easier if I went up the creek at one stage Woof did not want to jump back down into the creek until Tig walked back which encouraged him to jump. Back on the track I was very pleased with Woofs efforts as we went back to collecting the walnuts. Once the walnuts were completed Woof got to ride on the bike back to the house where we hang the boar in the chiller.
