Noah had arranged to bring his Lab/ collie bitch, Sika in for some training. So far she had seen nine pigs but every time the action was over quickly with dogs holding the pigs.
One of Noah’s first messages to me was, With your pigs being domestic and being easy to find, is there much to benefit the finding pigs side of things.
When Noah arrived we went for a walk around the pig block and couldn’t find the pigs so I grabbed Gus for our next walk expecting him to find them. Again we came up empty handed. We did manage to run into Bunt the ram who followed us around giving Sika a close encounter with a sheep.
Even on our third walk we had covered a big part of the 35 acre block but still couldn’t find a pig.
We stopped at the house for a drink and something to eat and a bit of yarn. I mentioned that we may as well go and catch a wild pig to train Sika on.
Out on the hunt Gus found a nice fat sow which gave us the perfect training session. We gave the dogs about an hour before calling them off and leaving her for another day.
As Noah drove away from the house Bruce went and bailed two boars by the driveway. Where they were hiding all day I don’t know.
