My new chiller

A once in a life time stag with 3 antlers

Recently I entered the Oamaru Stag and Boar muster hunting competition. This was one of the biggest competitions this year with 103 deer and 88 boars weighed in. One of the main reasons that this comp was so big was because of the prize pool. Every entry went in the draw to win a walk in chiller that was donated by Blair Brosnan and you did not even need to be there at the weigh in to win this. One stag that came in had 3 antlers something that I have never seen before.

The start of my chiller project

At the prize giving my name was called out as the winner of the chiller. This has to be the best thing that I have ever won as I have always wanted my own walk in chiller to hang animals in as the longer the meat can be hung the better it is and during the summer unless you can keep your meat cool you  have to cut it up straight away.

Cleared out ready to hand mix the concrete for the pad

Back at home I cleared out the junk from beside my 3 bay shed and then got a friend Mat Buckland to come up and give me a hand to put down a concrete floor. Another friend Richard Hand loaned me his trailer and my Son Sloan and I put the chiller into place at its new home.

Bring on summer as I also have a great place to store the odd bottle of beer.
