The weather this year was very good with the sun shinning through a big difference from this comp two years ago when it was snowing. Last year the comp was not run so it was good that Reon and Tarsh Smith had once again done a good job of the organizing. Their were 120 hunters entered with 22 boars weighed in for the open section. Because Ranfurly is a country town you get to see how the children are different. 
While we were weighing in the boars a lot of the local kids were out on the rugby field playing not like town kids who would have been sitting down looking at their cell phones. Their was a section for the younger hunters for rabbits, Hares, Possums and pigs. It was easy to see that their were a lot of potential hunters in the making with these young fellows listening to them telling their mates about the hunt and how they caught their boars.
