Gus update

Things have been getting very busy lately with helping my son Sloan carting milk as his partner Natalie is due to have their first baby.

The truck I’m driving for Sloan at Tapanui

Since my last update Gus had his first solo find on a 40 lb boar but I did not have my camera with me so did not get a photo.

The rip in Gus’s front shoulder has healed up well and he did not show any sign of it worring him.

On a day off I was on the deck at home when I spotted a black boar across the gully, so decided to give the dogs a run on him.

First I put Tig and Fog in their kennels before taking Rastus, Bro and Gus over. They were quick to bail him up and for a start he was quite firey and charged until he worked out that the dogs were too quick to get out of the way so he settled down. While this was going on Tig escaped from his kennel and turned up but luckily he stayed on the same side of the fence as me. On a boar like this Tig would not be able to help himself and want to grab an ear, the reason that I had put him into his kennel.

The dogs had 30 minutes bailing before I called them off so that I could carry on with my next job, sorting out some irrigation.
