Shearing

As the weather is starting to warm up I have had to think about getting the wool off the sheep as it must be damned hot for them under all of that wool. I was lucky enough to have a young fellow Robert Hubber flatting with my sons at present who is a shearer and offered to shear them for me. The main ones that I wanted to get were the rams weathers and criped orcards that were in the pig block. To muster them was going to be a real mission. Some how when I was going around the block checking the fence line to make sure there were no shorts in the hot wire I just fluked the sheep out in front of me. At the time I had my young pup Thunder with me and he was out to my right down in the trees when the sheep tried to sneak back around past me. As soon as they spotted him they carried on down the fence line right to the bottom. I managed to get around them and open the gate and all but three of them calmly walked on out. There has always got to be one stubborn one, in this case three sheep that I could not get out last time either. I ran up each side of the block to cut them off but as they got down towards the gate again they just carried on up the other side. After running up and down each side four times I was getting buggered so they just had to stay there. Maybe next time I might have to muster these three with the 3030. http://youtu.be/yTEF-Fjvrvc Two days before Christmas Robert finally got a day off from shearing as he had been working almost every day for the past couple of months. Because we do not have power or a wool shed we were using a 600 watt inverter with an electric hand peace. Being an experienced shearer it did not take to long to get the wool off the sheep. What happened next reminded me of the last time that they were shorn. With out their wool on them they do not seemed to recognize each other the same so they start sorting out their hierarchy all over again. This is done by two rams running head first into each other, I don’t know how they don’t knock themselves out as the force that goes in behind each charge would easily be enough to break a persons leg if they were in their way. http://youtu.be/FGxUXbv8fpg
