pup wanted

I’m on the lookout for my next pig dog. All hunters have preferences on what they want from a dog. Because I had recently put Rastus down I need a replacement for him. Rastus was not just a pig dog but would also help me with the sheep so my next dog also needs to work sheep and pigs.

The white dog in the video is 2 year old Gus, the yellow dog is 4 year old Bro and the black dog is a 4 year straight Kelpie Bruce that belongs to my son Sloan. Bruce does not need to wear a muzzle as he only barks at the Pigs and doesn’t bite.

My preference is a dog that is well represented with the Beardie collie’s breed.

Over the years of training dogs I have witnessed a couple of really good Beardie’s.

My best dog to date was Leroy who was a Beardie/ Boxer and the things he taught me was how a dog can control a pig without having to fight with it.

We as people know when a dog approaches us we quickly work out weather the dog is friendly or aggressive and this dictates how we react to each dog. Because pigs are more highly strung than people they are far more flighty so a dog needs to act calm to be able to settle a pig down. I’m sure this is something that farmers have worked out many years ago. That is why they don’t use pitbulls to work their stock.

Obvious I would prefer my next pup to come from hunting parents, so if you either have a pup or know of a pup like this please contact me.

All of my pups have been well written about on my website.
