Another year gone, leaving me with many more great memories. Thank you to all those hunters that either came in to train a dog with me or go out for a hunt. 2025 saw me having to put my old dog Fog down along with another dog Rastus as a 116 lb boar broke his neck. Because I was down to just the two pig dogs Bro and Gus I decided to take on my son Sloans Kelpie, Bruce. He is 4 years old and loves bailing pigs but just does not go out a long way on the find yet. When Bruce is out of his kennel he is normally bailing my training boar Pumba for hours at a time.
I also still have Tig who is 8 years old but he is used mainly for the Possums which he is very good at. Living in a block that is surrounded by bush I need to keep the possum numbers down so I have discouraged Tig from going in and grabbing pigs as he now knows his job is to focus on the Possums.
In 2026 I will be getting my next pup which I will write about, as yet I still have not found that pup as I am very particular on what I want. If someone knows of a Beardie collie pup from parents that are working dogs or better still good pig dogs then let me know.
